Greetings and Blessings Brethren, Allow me to share some exciting news.
Precious Blood: The faithful’s Prayer and Patience have paid off. The third week in September we will be bringing the Precious Blood back to the faithful. We are still working out the details for those that wish to receive the Precious Blood but might be concerned about their health (Note: As Catholics we ought to understand that receiving either the Body or Blood of Christ is just as efficacious as receiving them both). I have reached out to the Dioceses Office of Divine Worship for further guidance. The Precious Blood at this time will only be offered at the Vigil and Sunday Mass. We will need more Extraordinary Eucharist Ministers to volunteer for Chalice Stations during Saturday Vigil and Sunday Mass. Please contact Margaret Hughes or St. Mildred Executive Assistant if you wish to serve as an EEM- as you must be properly trained and deputed. More Info to Follow.
Hospitality Ministry: I am excited that we currently have two volunteers for this ministry, Gloria Margarette, and Lesley Riley. The Ministry will kick off on September 10, 2023, after the 9:00 a.m. Mass from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. with Coffee and Doughnuts for a short social. Potluck Dinners, Movie Nights, etc. If you are interested in volunteering for this ministry, please contact St. Mildred Executive Assistant. More Info to Follow.
Chalice Program: I am still searching for a Chalice Program Lead Minister. We will use the old chalices of the church for this program. We have four old chalices in which I intend to have them engraved each with one of the following: 1. Pray for Families; 2. Pray for Vocations; 3. Pray for Life; 4. Pray for the Sick. Individuals/Families may sign up for a week at a time for this program. Respective prayer cards will be placed in each bag. Recite the prayer daily as a family or with friends. The Chalices will be given out after Sunday Mass by the Pastor and returned at the Saturday Vigil Mass for the next family/individual to receive the chalice. The Lead will be responsible for this program. More Info to Follow.
Altar Server Training: I plan to meet with the families and altar servers in the very near future. The Altar Server Ministry is most important just not to our Parish but that of the whole Church. Why? In one word- Vocations. Our youth are the future of our church. It is up to us to ensure that we properly Catechize the youth and to let them know that regardless of their young age they too are assisting the Pastor in his Priestly Ministry. To include, they are serving the entire faithful of the Church. I would ask parents, godparents, grandparents please get the youth involved in this ministry. I have asked our Alatar Server Lead Coordinator to reach out to the current families of the altar servers and those that wish to get their children involved in this ministry to contact the parish office. More Info to Follow.
Once the Parish Staff along with the respective Laity Lead Coordinators have met and ironed out details more information will be posted. For now, let us be thankful for the Lords continued blessings upon St. Mildred Catholic Parish. I pray that all have enjoyed the Summer months as we move into yet another season. Blessings-FDM
